I have long thought that any law passed that cannot be enforced makes a mockery of the Justice system.
Further, laws that make normally good standing people criminals does exactly the same.
I have heard it said that we are all criminals in the eyes of the law. I guess we are all innocent as well with jurisprudence in the USA.

I've never met anyone who ALWAYS follows the posted speed limit.
Usually it's closer to 5 miles above the speed limit.
10 miles above, and they're gonna get ya. But we all know that, don't we?
You illustrate a good point. I don't think you could get through a day without breaking some law or other (borrowing a CD, for instance) Most peace officers are taught good judgement, though. If you are caught, there is still a due process, and then you're tried before peers. Not perfect but I'll take it over sharia law
