Perhaps I wasn't efficient, but I did get it done!

IMO, this video makes it harder than it has to be.

1) Of course, get your three shields up before you start the fight.

2) Start the fight, and then back up a little.

3) As soon as your charge button becomes enabled, charge. Your charge will carry you well past your opponent.

4) Circle around towards your opponent, and try to get off a shield breaker as you close with him to melee range. When done perfectly, you will get the charge off and the shield breaker, lowering his shields by 2, and taking no damage yourself.

5) If your opponent damages your shields, repair them immediately.

6) Just stand there and melee your opponent as long as he stays there. You will take very little damage while he is taking a lot of damage because you should have 3 shields and him 2 or less.

7) After trading melee blows, your opponent will turn away from you to get some distance. Just stand there, or even back away a bit, then go back to step 3. Sometimes the opponent will change directions on you...just try and back away and maneuver until you can charge.

8) If, for some reason, you get behind on your shields, just ride away and charge up all your shields and then re-engage when your shields are fully up.

I found this video after several frustrating early fights. I found it helped me get over the learning curve.

Shoo's analysis matches my current stratagem.
