Nancy Pelosi says as an “ardent practicing Catholic,” that when life begins “shouldn’t have an impact on a woman’s right to choose (read having an abortion)”
Further: “over the history of the church, this is an issue of controversy.”
Like the Catholic Church has not weighed in on the issue... What amazing denial or pathological.
Lets put the no-compromise argument of abortion aside. To state that the Church is in debate about these issues is amazingly ignorant.

I've never been able to resolve the differences between what the Catholic Church stands for and what the Democratic Party stands for. I think some people fall in the trap of thinking democrats help the poor more, or that wealth is bad. Either way, the Church has always been clear about the sanctity of life from conception to natural death (not abortion, not euthanasia). More globally, rewards and pitfalls come from personal responsibility, with a responsibility towards charity. There is a BIG difference between providing personal. direct charity, and supporting some top heavy government 'program' that mandates taxes to provide entitlements. Voting to soak the rich alot to help the poor a little, and grow government in the process, does not get you off the hook in the charity department.
ANy guess on who is much more likily to support charitable foundations---conservatives vs. liberals?
