Connor rides the proverbial short bus to school. Having him go to the bottom of our hill and wait for the bus is problematic. Plus, the regular bus really sucks (just ask my older two).
So every day the bus comes to our driveway picks up Connor and at the end of the day drops him off. It appears that every bus driver in town knows who he is and quite fondly.
He always greets the drivers with a smile, often says something amusing and takes his seat with a minimum of fuss. Because he loves riding in vehicles the could pick him up first and drive the entire route and he would be very happily looking out the window.
Bus people have this idea that the shorter the ride the better. So they are always trying to optimise the route. We have had them approach us very apologetically asking if it would be okay to pick him up sooner. Knowing Connor and it would mean longer on the bus its a no brain-er for us. Win win if you will.
Living where we do with a kid like Connor I always appreciate when someone knows him.
